Many years ago I really got into our family genealogy. Most weekends I could be found dragging(haha) my kids and husband to cemeteries to find headstones of loved ones from years gone by. I loved finding information never known before. I was put in touch with a lady in Florida that had an old tintype photo of my grandfathers Dad. No one in the family had ever seen him, when the picture arrived I was amazed at how much my grandfather looked like him. After years of research I was able to put together a book for each of my Dad’s siblings as a gift. I tell you that story because as I was studying the other day, I read a scripture that made me begin to think about our genealogy in Christ.
I wrote in my journal:
Father gave Jesus
Jesus gave Himself
We give ?
Our Heavenly Father gave us Jesus because He loves us so much.
John 3:16 For God so LOVED the world that He GAVE His one and only Son that whosoever believes shall not perish but have everlasting life
Jesus gave Himself because He loves us so much.
Gal. 1:4 The Lord Jesus Christ who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us.
Gal. 2:20 The Son of Man who LOVED me and GAVE Himself for me.
1Tim. 2:6 Christ Jesus who GAVE Himself as a ransom for all men.
We give ourselves because we love Him so much: We accept Christ as Savior and begin a journey that will lead us to eternal life. We die to self to live for Him. And then we begin to GIVE. We share our testimony with others. We live a life that reflects the great LOVE our Father and Jesus GAVE us.
When I was researching my family, I was following our blood line. In Christ I am following the Love line, the precious blood of Jesus that was freely given for me. Oh can I tell you, my heart and mind can’t comprehend His great love for me. I have days it overwhelms me and I just say Thank You Father, Thank You Father over and over. A song will rise up in me and I will burst out singing, thank goodness the dog and my husband are use to it, as are my co-workers (sorry girls). If you have ever wondered if you are loved, please know my dear friend, YOU ARE. Rest in His love. Soak in His love.
Micah 6:8 What does the Lord require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
