Deciding Factor

I was reading the book of Daniel and didn’t get very far before God stopped me on verse 8. The king of Babylon ordered that Israel’s best looking and brightest be taken captive and brought to Babylon. They were given a new name, new language, new food, new culture, new god. They were to be immersed in Babylonian ways to rid them of their identity. In verse 8 we see Daniel, who is rooted and grounded in his faith long before he was taken captive, take his stand.

Daniel 1:8 But Daniel resolved in his heart…

Daniel was taken captive, but Daniel resolved

Daniel was given a new name, but Daniel resolved

Daniel learned a new language, but Daniel resolved

Daniel was given new food, but Daniel resolved

This world we live in also wants the best looking and the brightest, it tells us that we are not thin enough, that we have not climbed up the social ladder far enough, that we need to be the best and brightest to be accepted. Can I tell you my dear friend, that we need to be like Daniel, resolved in our heart that we will live for Christ and Christ only. That when the world tries to tell us that we need to have more or be more, that we are so firmly grounded in the Word of God that we will not be moved. That HIS Precious Word is the deciding factor for our life.

Psalms 119:11 I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You.

Love In Christ,

Denise
